Sacramento has always seemed a lot smaller than the big cities that make up California. It’s big enough to be the capital, but small enough that my mom always sees a familiar face every time we go to Number 1 Buffet. It’s this quality that adds to our charm. The late night runs to Willie’s or Marie’s. Back to school shopping at the Arden (or the Galleria if you’re lucky). Your first time at Funderland. Graduating at Arco, Memorial Auditorium, Golden 1. These are more than monuments; they’re experiences that offer a sense of the unity and pride that have long defined the city.
And a few years ago we added another in the Kings’ victory beam. This instant icon reminds us what it means to not only live in but be from Sacramento. While we lead our own lives – from Truxel to Franklin, Jefferson to Elkhorn – the city is ours to share.
Inspired by this fact, we created BEAM to uplift Sacramento and its people. We believe this city deserves the best, and hope to create a platform reflecting that. To us, BEAM stands for Be Everything And More, because the city is so much more than it seems. It's a rich, diverse history that’s evolving and expanding before our eyes. We want to capture the love we experienced growing up here and make sure those coming after us get that same feeling.
Those on the outside looking in won’t get it. But we believe it’s the people who define a place, and the Sac we know is full of talent, heart, and hope. We believe in showing love to where you’re from and seeing how far it takes you.
Join us as we put our city on.
